The “undulatory” glass panes of the Monastery of Tourette (1953-1961) – constituted of an
irregular distribution of glass pieces of various lengths – appears to be a new expression
of the traditional and long-lasting analogy between music and architecture. It was Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001), engineer and architect in the atelier Le Corbusier, who has come up with them by referring to his musical researches. On the basis
of archival documents, this article develops an hypothetical method to decipher their
conception and link to his work as a composer, aspects which have not been examined
for a long time. Published in March 2018.
